There
is a reason why
this donation page is the last page on
this website.
When
I started thinking
about this project, the dream of
restoring the 58 in Ben’s honor and building the truck like he and I
talked
about when he was alive seemed to take on a life of it’s own. Somehow,
I would
get all the pieces to fit together and the vision would become a
reality.
That’s the problem with dreams, reality has a way of sneaking up on
you.
I
have thought about
refusing any and all donations for this
project. However, in talking with another Gold Star Dad, he wanted to
donate
something to help with this project. He wanted his son not only to be
on one of
the gold stars on the hood but to be more involved with the truck
somehow. His
son had ridden in his grandfather’s 59 Panel truck and was thrilled
beyond
words. Now his son’s memory can ride along in this truck with my son’s.
I
will accept donations
to either a paypal account or by
check. If you wish to remain anonymous, I will respect your wishes. If
you want
your named listed on this page, I will do that, but, I will not list
the amount
that you donated. I don’t want this to be any type of competition and I
don’t
want anyone to feel that what they gave is not as much as someone else.
Because
this is not
a non-profit organization, I can not
send you any receipts for your donation. This also means that you will not
be able to declare any donation that is made to this project on your
taxes.
What
I will do is list
the running amount of the donations I
have received for this project and I will also list the amount spent
and for
what. Any left over money after the truck is completed, will be donated
to the
Jeff Gordon Foundation. Amount generously donated to date: $950.00
